Island Reception

At the end of 2006 Meridian Marquees were approved to become a preferred supplier for Temple Island, the jewel at the beginning of world Famous regatta course in Henley on Thames.

An incredibly unique venue only accessed by boat, each event is different influenced by the river. The temple although an event space in its own right is small so the rear lawn makes an ideal space for a marquee.

The island provides a perfect setting for an intimate reception or ceremony. However with our client’s guest list looking to outgrow 120, the islands maximum numbers for a formal sit down marquee a creative approach was required.
With the island being a dream location why not hold the wedding ceremony on the island with a roof only marquee canopy furnished with White chairs and a white carpet creating the perfect summer wedding surrounded by the Thames.

With the ceremony accommodating 110 guests the island was at capacity so a decision was to be made on where to hold the reception. What better location than the meadows opposite. This meant the boats were only used to transport the guests to and from the island in the afternoon and they enjoyed a boat trip on the river as champagne glasses were filled by the catering team.

The large meadows meant there were no longer size constraints so the bride and groom could have there dream reception. A 15m Structure to give extra leg height was used complete with panoramic windows for view up and down stream. A Chinese Pagoda was attached to the front as a meet and greet area and to the rear a marquee was used to house the toilet unit. This created a luxury feel, not having to leave the marquee in the case of bad weather but also to create a ladies and gents cloakroom area and a vanity space for the ladies, dressed with a large mirror and dressing table set up.

With power and water provided onsite, the event ran smoothly. The weather held and a glorious summer wedding was enjoyed in very unique location.
